Before you can send an EDI message in the N4 client, you must configure a message type and create a message map. It is likely that your terminal has already updated N4 with the default message types relevant for vessel operations (on page 1).
To add or edit a message type, you need to perform the following procedure.
To configure an EDI message type:
In the N4 client, open the Message Types view: N4 client Administration
EDI
Message Types
Message Types view
In the Message Types view, double-click the message type that you want to configure. In the Message Type form that opens, the Class, Standard, Version, Release Number, and Responsible Agency fields should already be completed.
Review the contents of the Message Map tab at the bottom of the form to verify whether a message type is already configured. In the In/Out column, inbound messages have "Receive" and outgoing messages have "Send."
If no message map is defined, continue with Configure a message map (on page 1). Otherwise, click Close.
